"Sevya" is a Sanskrit word that means "caring through service." Sevya is dedicated to preserving the indigenous art forms and cultures of India by supporting the artisan communities who uphold these traditions. All of Sevya's fair trade products are made by artisan groups using centuries-old craft traditions, with the finest natural fibers and materials. Sevya works with artisan cooperatives throughout India to develop contemporary styles and designs that showcase their traditional and eco-friendly methods of handcraft--including hand-loom, block-printing, tie-dye, and embroidery.
Sevya’s Kantha Recycled Silk Shawl is handmade by women artisans in India using 100% silk recycled saris. Two different silk saris are used for each piece, and the saris are hand-stitched together using the traditional kantha embroidery technique in distinctive, artistic patterns. Each piece is unique, and features handmade tassels with buttons at each end, with different prints and colors on each side. These one of a kind pieces can be used as a scarf, wrap or a table runner.
Colors: because each piece is unique, we've added a letter designation to each tag. Use the style pull-down menu to rotate the pictures to match the style letter. (Note: Clicking on the pictures will not bring up the corresponding image, which could cause you to select a shawl different from the one intended.
