"Sevya" is a  Sanskrit word that means "caring through service." Sevya is dedicated to preserving the indigenous art forms and cultures of India by supporting the artisan communities who uphold these traditions. All of Sevya's fair trade products are made by artisan groups using centuries-old craft traditions, with the finest natural fibers and materials.  Sevya works with artisan cooperatives throughout India to develop contemporary styles and designs that showcase their traditional and eco-friendly methods of handcraft--including hand-loom, block-printing, tie-dye, and embroidery.

The Ikat Handloom Wool Scarf is hand-woven by master weavers in rural India, and showcases the classic Ikat weaving style in very soft, fine wool. The beautiful striated pattern of this weave is made by hand tie-dyeing the yarn before it is set on the loom for weaving. This handloom art requires great skill and precision, and the weavers who make these fine wool scarves are masters in their craft.
