Indie Ella is a small, independent fair-trade clothing label based in Vancouver, WA. It makes garments by recutting Indian saris and giving them a second life as dresses and separates. Each Indie Ella garment is one of a kind and made out of 100% upcycled silk.
The Indie Ella hang tag attached to each garment reads as follows: “I once walked the streets of India as a beautiful saree. I have witnessed much in my lifetime. I have traveled far, crossing oceans to reach you and have been born again. The minor holes and imperfections upon my surface tell the tale of my journey. Please embrace these flaws as part of my charm.”
While we have found these garments to be silent after this initial introduction, the beautiful patterns and bright colors have a lot to say. The Vera shirt has been one of our favorite reorder styles. The shirt is one size, with a flowing, cropped hemline, full butterfly sleeves (see image 3), a wide high neckline in front, and a deep vee with drawstring on the back (see image 2). It is much more flattering on the body than in these pictures, taken on a breezy day that offered us some challenges.
Colors/Patterns (Note that we have included multiple pictures of an item when there is a significant difference between the pattern on the front and back of the garment. The number after the color/pattern name indicates how many pictures there are of that item): Gold Floral (3 images), Turquoise Embossed, Gold Green, Green Texture, Red Blue Floral, Green Green, Indigo Shadow, Blue Floral Vine, Ditzy Iris (2 images), Blue Leaf Stripe (2 images), Taupe Embroidered (3 images), Red Green Botanical (2 images)
