Catch Joy is a fair trade small business that works with women in Southern Mexico. They partner directly with artisans, have been to their homes, and know them personally. Lillian Bertz, owner of Catch Joy, explains: "The hours put into creating a handmade piece seems to bless it with goodness. I believe in supporting the makers--the artisans, women with rich culture and tradition who take the time to create with their hands. By supporting women artisans, we allow their cultural traditions to continue. There is magic in saying “yes” to that which is personal, slow and patient instead of mass-produced and anonymous. By partnering with these amazing women, we are affirming their skills, their livelihoods and the kind of ethical, connected world we want to live in."
The Joy Susan 3/4-sleeve shirt is a delight for the eyes. The bright colors of a traditional Mexican peasant shirt are complemented by quality materials and embroidery (close up example images 2-4), and the fit is enhanced due to the addition of a gusset under the arm (image 2). There are several different necklines, but the fit is otherwise the same.
